The Free Medical Clinic of Northern Shenandoah Valley in Winchester, Virginia, serves low-income, uninsured working residents of Frederick County, Winchester City, and Clarke County. Almost 100% of patients served by the Free Medical Clinic of Northern Shenandoah Valley have incomes at or below 150% of the federal poverty level. Approximately two-thirds of the FMC of Northern Shenandoah Valley patients have one or more chronic illnesses which require ongoing medication therapies, etc. ? In 2011 the Clinic provided 9366 patient visits, treated 1048 patients, and screened 532 new patients for services.

Public health nurses, environmental health specialists and office support staff are dedicated to the mission of promoting optimum health, preventing disease and protecting the health of the community.

The Rockbridge Area Free Clinic (RAFC) serves low-income, uninsured residents of the Rockbridge area (Lexington, Buena Vista and Rockbridge County) who cannot otherwise afford or obtain health care services. All RAFC patients have incomes below 150% of the federal poverty guideline with the majority actually below 100% of the poverty guideline. The vast majority of RAFC patients work or belong to working families. Of the people currently seeking RAFC services, 65% have one or more chronic disease such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and/or asthma that require ongoing medical treatment and medication therapy. These diseases, when left unmanaged, are very expensive to treat. In addition, according to the latest census figures there are an approximately 4,000 area low-income residents that could qualify for RAFC care.

The Fauquier County Health Department is a local office of the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Health. It is a State entity that provides environmental health services, including the issuance of well and sewage disposal or septic permits, and clinic services to the citizens of Fauquier County. While providing services to the citizens of Fauquier County, it is not a department of the Fauquier County government. The Fauquier County Health Department is a part of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Health District which is headquartered in the Environmental Health Services office in Warrenton. The Rappahannock-Rapidan Health District also includes the counties of Rappahannock, Culpeper, Madison, and Orange. The mission of the Surry Area Free Clinic is to provide medical, dental and pharmaceutical care to the area working poor, using volunteer and professional staff. The Surry Area Free Clinic?s intention is to help those who are making a sincere effort to help themselves and their families. Most of our patients have incomes at or below 100% of the federal poverty level. We treat mostly patients who have at least one chronic illness.
