We are proud to offer all aspects of primary medical care and mental health, substance abuse and case management services to HIV positive individuals along with a history of delivering compassionate HIV/AIDS clinical and education services. Our convenient services are available at locations around Northern Virginia. We provide compassionate, dignified care to individuals regardless of their sex, race, background, sexual orientation, religious preference, financial status or insurance coverage. Support services provided by the Nexus program expand the options available to newly diagnosed or People Living with HIV giving them the benefit and flexibility of receiving HIV-related care in a medical setting of their choosing – a private infectious disease, primary care or specialist practice. Your doctor can refer you to Nexus and based on your eligibility you may enroll in the appropriate support services to supplement your medical treatment and help you achieve and maintain viral load suppression. Central Virginia Health Services is a non-profit community health center with Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) status. We started in 1970 as a community based and patient-directed organization focused on providing care to people with limited access to the health services they need. We are committed to and must uphold a high level of care, meeting administrative, clinical, and financial standards as part of responsibility as a FQHC. We offer comprehensive care: medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, and at some sites, x-ray services. The majority of our governing board is made up of our patients – at least 51% of board members must be representative of the patients we serve. Programs that provide comprehensive medical services on an inpatient or outpatient basis for people who have symptomatic or asymptomatic HIV infections or a clinical AIDS diagnosis. An HIV diagnosis follows a reactive test for the HIV virus; however, a diagnosis of AIDS is given by a physician only if an individual's CD4 cell count is below 200 or if the individual develops certain opportunistic infections. Given that effective treatment is available for individuals who have been diagnosed with HIV, it is likely that someone who is adherent to treatment will never receive an AIDS diagnosis.

The Free Clinic of Central Virginia serves low-income (200% of the federal poverty level or lower) persons without health insurance, Medicare or Medicaid for the service being requested and provided. Present figures indicate that over 70% of the patients are working at least one part-time job or more. At least one-third of the Free Clinic patients have been identified with chronic illnesses (i.e. asthma, diabetes, hypertension), which necessitate ongoing medical care and medications. Specialty medical services are available in 20 different areas. A Medication Accesss Program, which is called MedsHelp, provides prescription services to Free Clinic patients as well to patients referred by physicians in the Central Virginia community. A dental clinic for exams, dental hygiene services, restorations, and extractions treated 2,034 unduplicated patients in over 5,200 visits in 2011. Some dental specialty services have been added, but they are only provided to long term patients at this time.

ARE is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that provides innovative approaches to improve health disparities in our community. For almost thirty years ARE has offered individualized HIV support care services to those impacted by HIV. At AIDS Response Effort, Inc., their Ryan White Part B Case Management Services are dedicated to providing comprehensive support for individuals living with HIV/AIDS. The Lackey Free Clinic is a faith-based free health ministry, and serves patients who live in Williamsburg, York County, and Newport News. We provide medical, dental and mental health care as well as prescriptions to individuals residing in the area who fall below 200% of the federal poverty level and are not insured. Many of our patients work multiple part-time jobs or full-time jobs but do not have health benefits.
