Southside Treatment Center provides opioid addiction treatment and recovery in Richmond and surrounding areas including Bensley, Bellwood, Chester, Chesterfield, Wilkinson Terrace and Midlothian. Southside TC has a dedicated team of treatment specialists including doctors, nurses and counselors to provide comprehensive care to each patient.

For almost thirty years ARE has offered individualized HIV support care services to those impacted by HIV. At AIDS Response Effort, Inc., their Ryan White Part B Case Management Services are dedicated to providing comprehensive support for individuals living with HIV/AIDS. NovaSalud is committed to providing care to people living with HIV regardless of their ability to pay. For those who are uninsured or underinsured, the Ryan White Program provides linkage to the Ryan White HIV care and supportive services. NovaSalud provides free confidential HIV, STI, and Hepatitis C counseling and testing for residents living in Virginia, D.C., and Maryland. Outreach testing has been the foundation of NovaSalud's successful HIV prevention program for the past decade. Appointments are available by phone, online scheduling, or walk-in. The Comprehensive Harm Reduction (CHR) Program is part of a larger Public Health strategy to reduce negative health outcomes for people who engage in substance use. NovaSalud Program incorporates a spectrum of strategies and evidence-based interventions that include overdose, HIV/HCV transmission, and other infection prevention. NovaSalud programs provide support to diverse community members in the DC metropolitan area. If you or someone you know is using drugs, we can help. Drop-In Center North, located at 2328 Williamson Road provides access to syringe exchange mobile unit (for clean needles and needle disposal), risk reduction counseling, HIV and Hepatitis C testing, would care/clean works kits, linkage to care, and more. We also offer harm reduction, skill-building classes, at our office and at treatment centers across Southwest Virginia.

Programs that distribute test strips which can be used to detect the presence of fentanyl, xylazine, and many of their known analogs in a drug sample to reduce the number of opioid-related overdoses, severe injuries, fatalities, and other complications from contaminated drugs. Based on the results of the testing strips, people can choose to implement measures to reduce the risk of an overdose including using less of the substance, giving slow or test shots, not using alone, using with a naloxone rescue kit nearby or not using the substances at all. Other drugs in pill or powder form can also be tested (e.g., cocaine, MDMA, ketamine, and other illegally obtained prescription medications) but must be mixed with water prior to testing.
