Created by the County of Accomack and the County of Northampton, the Authority is tasked with providing safe, sanitary and affordable housing to low income residents of the Eastern Shore. The A-NRHA focuses on developing rental housing and manages the regional Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program. The Authority also owns several apartment complexes and continues work to provide a sufficient number of attractive and affordable rental units.

For those who are uninsured or underinsured, the Ryan White Program provides linkage to the Ryan White HIV care and supportive services. NovaSalud provides free confidential HIV, STI, and Hepatitis C counseling and testing for residents living in Virginia, D.C., and Maryland. Outreach testing has been the foundation of NovaSalud's successful HIV prevention program for the past decade. Appointments are available by phone, online scheduling, or walk-in. The Comprehensive Harm Reduction (CHR) Program is part of a larger Public Health strategy to reduce negative health outcomes for people who engage in substance use. NovaSalud Program incorporates a spectrum of strategies and evidence-based interventions that include overdose, HIV/HCV transmission, and other infection prevention. Operating for 40+ years, Southeastern Virginia Health System (SEVHS) is the premier community-based health care initiative in Hampton Roads for the insured, uninsured, and underinsured. The 501(c)3 operates twelve sites, providing primary care and dental services to individuals and families. SEVHS physicians are board-certified and provide services in the areas of family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics/gynecology. With practices located in Newport News, Hampton, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, and Franklin, SEVHS also offers a number of other support services such as health education and nutrition counseling, case management, referrals to specialty care, medication assistance and on-site lab testing. Southeastern Virginia Health System is a member of the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) and the Virginia Community Healthcare Association (VACHA). SEVHS services over 25,000 patients annually.

The CHRC has funding for individuals and families that are literally homeless and have limited resources to obtain housing on their own. The CHRC offers short term financial assistance and connection to services to assist clients to achieve stability quickly. This program is known as rapid re-housing. The rapid re-housing program requires a referral from a shelter or case worker to be considered.

We connect others with the services they need to help them in their struggle against substance abuse whether that be a detox center, an inpatient or outpatient treatment program, mental health services or just an empathetic ear. As people in recovery ourselves, we have personally experienced the highs and lows of addiction and the recovery process and understand in a way that most others can’t the process of beating addiction. Through our experiences, we’ve learned how important it is to lend a hand to others in need, even when they don’t realize that they need it. Sometimes your first step isn’t admitting that you have a problem – it’s the tentative questions or thoughts that arise about the possibility of treatment. Figuring out where to start and what your options are can be confusing. We know, because we’ve been there. That’s why we’ve created Your First Step, to provide a resource for the men and women who don’t quite know where to begin when it comes to seeking treatment for addiction.
