Central Virginia Health Services is a non-profit community health center with Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) status. They started in 1970 as a community-based and patient-directed organization focused on providing care to people with limited access to the health services they need. They are committed to and must uphold a high level of care, meeting administrative, clinical, and financial standards as part of responsibility as a FQHC. They offer comprehensive care: medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, and at some sites, x-ray services. The majority of their governing board is made up of their patients – at least 51% of board members must be representative of the patients they serve.

The Madison Free Clinic, Inc. is a non profit organization that enables the uninsured residents of Madison County, who meet the guidelines, to be provided with medical care and medications. The Clinic also provides limited dental and eye care. Volunteers provide almost all of our services.

The Student Health Center’s mission is to provide culturally competent, quality care while promoting healthy lifestyles and behaviors through health promotion and disease prevention. All students are provided equal access to services regardless of their income, race, sex, nationality, age, religion, gender or sexual orientation.

Psychological evaluation, individual psychotherapy and counseling for adults. Specializing in working with trans and queer individuals. Evaluations and letter writing for gender affirming care. Services available in person for local residents and statewide via telehealth.

We serve everyone—regardless of age or insurance status. We want patients to understand that we—the staff, the doctors, the nurses— live, work and play in the same community as they do. When patients come to Community Access Network, they’re being treated by their neighbors, their fellow church members and those they see on the bus every morning. We want our patients to understand that their health is all that matters to us and that the quality of care they’ll receive will be consistent, courteous and compassionate. Our medical offices are open evening hours, and we offer same-day and walk-in services at some locations. We accept most insurances, including: PCHP, Optima, Anthem, Aetna, VAPremier, Tricare, Medicaid and Medicare.

Education, support and advocacy for all people impacted by interpersonal violence. Services are provided remotely via Zoom and telephone or in person dependent on the need. Services are available in Spanish

Rapid HIV testing, support services (must be HIV+ to be eligible for support services) including food pantry, housing assistance, individualized medical case management, and transportation. Primary medical care and dental care.

Weekly in-person and virtual support groups for LGBTQ+ persons up to age 25. Referrals for affirming service providers (medical, legal, etc.). Housing and other types of emergency assistance also available, including some transition-related items. Trainings for service providers on how to best address needs of LGBTQ+ persons aged 25 and younger. Please see website for more information.
