We empower clinicians, care teams, and patients to enhance hepatitis C (HCV) elimination in Virginia by breaking down barriers to access curative treatments through improved knowledge and resources. We offer HCV treatment through telemedicine for patients in Virginia. Patients identified as having positive HCV RNA should be treated. Curative treatment is available for hepatitis C with 8-12 weeks of Direct Acting Antiviral (DAA) oral medication with minimal, if any, side effects. Following treatment, a lab is needed in 12 weeks, checking the HCV PCR/RNA to determine cure.

Chemical Dependency Consultation and Intervention Services This service is designed to recognize and treat chemical dependency in medical/surgical patients and to reduce the complications associated with chemical dependency. Eastern Shore Rural Health is a Community Health Center Network committed to a healthy Eastern Shore. They provide medical, oral, and behavioral health care and support services to everyone in their community regardless of ability to pay. As primary health care providers, they serve patients and work with others to manage patients’ health needs in a safe, professional way that also respects the culture of every individual. Serving Virginia’s Eastern Shore with four medical centers, seven dental locations, and one urgent care center, they are the medical primary care provider of choice. Support services provided by the Nexus program expand the options available to newly diagnosed or People Living with HIV giving them the benefit and flexibility of receiving HIV-related care in a medical setting of their choosing – a private infectious disease, primary care or specialist practice. Hospital-based programs that provide diagnostic and treatment services for individuals who have acute psychiatric disorders, who require hospitalization on a voluntary or involuntary basis for maximum benefit, and who might be a threat to themselves, to their families or to others if left in the community or placed in a less restrictive treatment setting. The objective of inpatient mental health programs is to stabilize and then return the individual to the community for ongoing treatment as quickly as possible, and to facilitate the transition by preparing the individual's family to cope with the limitations imposed by the illness and by arranging for other supportive services as required. Included are psychiatric hospitals, health care hospitals that have psychiatric units and state hospitals for people who are mentally disordered.

The MASS Medical Transportation program provides transportation services to medical, mental health, and certain human service appointments for anyone in the Hampton Roads area who has HIV/AIDS and is eligible for Ryan White Part A services. Central Virginia Health Services is a non-profit community health center with Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) status. They started in 1970 as a community-based and patient-directed organization focused on providing care to people with limited access to the health services they need. They are committed to and must uphold a high level of care, meeting administrative, clinical, and financial standards as part of responsibility as a FQHC. They offer comprehensive care: medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, and at some sites, x-ray services.
