The Fauquier County Health Department is a local office of the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Health. It is a State entity that provides environmental health services, including the issuance of well and sewage disposal or septic permits, and clinic services to the citizens of Fauquier County. While providing services to the citizens of Fauquier County, it is not a department of the Fauquier County government. The Fauquier County Health Department is a part of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Health District which is headquartered in the Environmental Health Services office in Warrenton. The Rappahannock-Rapidan Health District also includes the counties of Rappahannock, Culpeper, Madison, and Orange. The Free Clinic of Pulaski County serves those in the community who are otherwise not served by Medicaid or Medicare, do not have private health insurance and whose income does not exceed 130% of the current Federal poverty guideline. Clinics are held Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons by appointment, from 10AM to 3PM every other Friday and on Thursday evenings beginning at 5:30 PM. The clinic also assists patients in accessing the Medication Assistance Programs of the various pharmaceutical manufacturers. In the fiscal year ending June 30, 2007, 826 individuals were served and 6,447 prescriptions were filled.

NovaSalud is committed to providing care to people living with HIV regardless of their ability to pay. For those who are uninsured or underinsured, the Ryan White Program provides linkage to the Ryan White HIV care and supportive services. NovaSalud provides free confidential HIV, STI, and Hepatitis C counseling and testing for residents living in Virginia, D.C., and Maryland. Outreach testing has been the foundation of NovaSalud's successful HIV prevention program for the past decade. Appointments are available by phone, online scheduling, or walk-in. The Comprehensive Harm Reduction (CHR) Program is part of a larger Public Health strategy to reduce negative health outcomes for people who engage in substance use. NovaSalud Program incorporates a spectrum of strategies and evidence-based interventions that include overdose, HIV/HCV transmission, and other infection prevention. NovaSalud programs provide support to diverse community members in the DC metropolitan area. American Addiction Treatment Center in Newport News, VA, offers medication-assisted treatment, including methadone and buprenorphine (Suboxone) to effectively treat opiate use disorder. Our Outpatient Treatment Center for men and women will begin the treatment process with a clinical evaluation and create a personalized treatment plan. Through individual and group therapy, the goal of treatment is stabilization and eventual discontinued use of any medications. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Stages of Change, and Motivational Interviewing (MI), Relapse prevention, education classes, and 12-step programs are integrated into the program to support ongoing recovery. Pregnant/expecting women welcome. Medicaid and Out of Network benefits accepted.

Shenandoah County Free Clinic sees people at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty level who have no other means of acquiring health care. Most of the patients are below 100% of the poverty level. Approximately two-thirds of the patients have one or more chronic conditions requiring continuing medication. Thanks to award-winning volunteers and donated services, the clinic is able to provide over $8 in care for every dollar received.
