Central Virginia Health Services is a non-profit community health center with Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) status. They started in 1970 as a community-based and patient-directed organization focused on providing care to people with limited access to the health services they need. They are committed to and must uphold a high level of care, meeting administrative, clinical, and financial standards as part of responsibility as a FQHC. They offer comprehensive care: medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, and at some sites, x-ray services. The majority of their governing board is made up of their patients – at least 51% of board members must be representative of the patients they serve.

The Brock Hughes Free Clinic serves individuals living in Wythe and Bland counties who are not covered by medical insurance, Medicare or Medicaid who meet income requirements at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. The clinic provides general medical care, prescription medications and ancillary health services including health education, nutrition counseling and basic lab testing for those who qualify. Referral arrangements with Wythe County Community Hospital, Counts Pharmacy and specialty providers enable our patients to receive radiology services, laboratory testing, insulin assistance and other specialty medical services. ARS Treatment Center in Charlottesville, VA is a CARF-accredited provider specializing in treating substance use disorders, including opiate treatment, methadone maintenance, and other substance abuse treatment. ARS provides group, individual, and family counseling, and medication-assisted treatment in an intensive outpatient program focused on recovery.
