Social Services Office

Central Virginia Health Services is a non-profit community health center with Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) status. They started in 1970 as a community-based and patient-directed organization focused on providing care to people with limited access to the health services they need. They are committed to and must uphold a high level of care, meeting administrative, clinical, and financial standards as part of responsibility as a FQHC. They offer comprehensive care: medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, and at some sites, x-ray services. The majority of their governing board is made up of their patients – at least 51% of board members must be representative of the patients they serve.

OB/GYN services, hormone therapy, contraception management, STI testing and treatment, pre-conception counseling, laboratory and imaging services, gynecological surgeries including hysterectomy and oophorectomy. Certified Radiologic Technologists provide radiology examinations at the medical centers with state-of-the-art x-ray equipment, including bone densitometry. Night, Weekend, and Emergency Services Southern Dominion Health System, Inc. provides for a 24 hour comprehensive medical provider availability should the need arise. When you need to reach us for an emergency or after-hours problem please call the office number to be connected to our after hours on-call service. In the event that you may be experiencing a dire, life threatening emergency call 911, local dispatcher, or proceed directly to the emergency room and identify yourself as a patient of Southern Dominion Health System, Inc. Diabetic Education Classes Diabetes education classes are available at Lunenburg Medical Center as needed. This service is free to our patients. ARS Treatment Center in Charlottesville, VA is a CARF-accredited provider specializing in treating substance use disorders, including opiate treatment, methadone maintenance, and other substance abuse treatment. ARS provides group, individual, and family counseling, and medication-assisted treatment in an intensive outpatient program focused on recovery.

At Wythe County Community Hospital, we are committed to providing our patients with the highest quality, family-friendly care available. We offer a wide range of health care services, including emergency medicine, heart care, maternity care, sleep medicine, surgical services, and many more.

We offer syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia testing.

The ACLU uses litigation, lobbying, public education, and organizing at the state and federal levels to fight discrimination against people living with HIV. If you’ve been discriminated against based on sexual orientation, gender identity, or HIV status, the ACLU wants to hear about it.

Peer-led support and social group for transmasculine people (assigned female at birth who no longer identify in that way). Accepts walk-ins. All meetings are conducted via Zoom and when possible, also in-person. Call or email for details on how to participate.

The Arlington Recovery Center offers medically monitored and clinically managed intensive residential treatment services for Arlington County adult men and women. Operated for Arlington County, this adult rehabilitation center helps break the cycle of drug and alcohol misuse and equips patients with the tools needed to be successful at the next appropriate level of care.
