The Rescue Mission Health Care Center serves low-income, uninsured homeless individuals and families in the Roanoke Valley who cannot otherwise afford or obtain health care services. The majority of the patients served in the clinic have one or more chronic illnesses requiring supervision and medications. The ability of these patients to access care in this free clinic dramatically reduces emergency room visits and hospitalizations. Since opening in July of 2002, the clinic has had 10,660 patient visits totaling $1,478,849.49 worth of free health care.

We are proud to offer all aspects of primary medical care and mental health, substance abuse and case management services to HIV positive individuals along with a history of delivering compassionate HIV/AIDS clinical and education services. Central Virginia Health Services is a non-profit community health center with Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) status. They started in 1970 as a community-based and patient-directed organization focused on providing care to people with limited access to the health services they need. They are committed to and must uphold a high level of care, meeting administrative, clinical, and financial standards as part of responsibility as a FQHC. They offer comprehensive care: medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, and at some sites, x-ray services. The majority of their governing board is made up of their patients – at least 51% of board members must be representative of the patients they serve.

For utility assistance, you may make an appointment once every 4 months for any utility other than Dominion. For Dominion, you may make an appointment once during June 1st-September 30th and once during October 1st-May 31st each year. In addition to assistance with utilities, ACTS offers rental, mortgage assistance, when funding is available and Thrift Store vouchers, depending on the circumstance. ACTS does not cover Internet phone, gasoline or any other financial assistance for material goods. EA Services are offered in English and Spanish.
